Peter began his career in financial services in 1988 as an Area Representative with Refuge Assurance.

In 1998 Peter joined Barclays Financial Management to experience ‘bank assurance’. There he progressed from a branch-based retail adviser to advising high-net-worth clients in conjunction with a premier bank manager and then advising corporate clients in conjunction with business bank managers. It was here that he met Peter Wright and Penny Hurrell. In 2002 Peter became Principal and co-founder of IFA company Chadborn Baker & Kearle. CBK Colchester was created in 2005 when the former company was re-structured to create three autonomous companies. In 2010 Peter Chadborn and Peter Wright rebranded to Plan Money to reflect the company’s modern approach to financial planning and its ability to adapt to client’s changing planning requirements. Peter has won many industry awards, is called upon by the financial media to comment on developments in the financial arena, and contributes articles to the financial press. He has also provided consultancy services to product providers to give his opinion of new products and strategies, principally from a consumer perspective.

Peter Wright

Director & Financial Planner

Peter started his financial services career in banking in 1988 with Barclays, where he progressed through various roles available within the bank. He excelled particularly as a lending specialist covering both retail and corporate areas. The extensive knowledge gained of the banking and lending industry stood Peter in good stead when deciding to make the step to become an Independent Financial Adviser.

In 2003, Peter became a part owner of the Chadborn Baker Kearle team and then an equal owner of CBK Colchester with Peter Chadborn. In 2010 Peter Wright and Peter Chadborn rebranded to Plan Money to reflect the company’s modern approach to financial planning and its ability to adapt to changing consumer planning requirements.

David Vaughan

Director & Chartered Financial Planner

David began his career in financial services in 2000 with Lloyds bank as a Customer Services Officer until 2003 when he left to undertake a similar role as a Customer Account Manager at HSBC. In 2005 he returned to Lloyds as a Premier Banking Manager. David became a Financial Adviser with Lloyds in 2006 and then achieved the acclaimed chartered status in 2012.

In 2013, David decided that the time was right for him to become an Independent Financial Adviser. Of the eight job offers he received, he decided to join Plan Money because of their forward-thinking outlook, team support ethic and the way they embrace technology to enhance their client proposition. In 2017 David reached new heights by being granted Fellow of the Personal Finance Society.

Penny Hurrell

Mortgage & Insurance Adviser

Penny began her career in financial services in 1987 with Barclays Bank. She progressed through the bank during her 14 years service as a back-office Clerk, Cashier, Personal Banker, Loan Specialist, and then finally Branch Manager. In 2001 Penny joined Barclays Financial Management as a branch-based Financial Adviser. During her time at Barclays she worked closely with several of her current Plan Money colleagues.

In 2004 Penny decided to widen her knowledge and experience and joined Peter Chadborn and Peter Wright as an Independent Financial Adviser. Penny is a specialist in providing mortgage and personal insurance protection advice, frequently being able to help people who do not fit ‘mainstream’ lending criteria.

Paul Twyford

Chartered Financial Planner

Paul joined the financial services industry in 1991 as a representative for a life assurance company, becoming an Independent Financial Adviser in 2000 and achieving chartered status in 2006.

Paul worked closely with Plan Money since 2010 and then joined Plan Money as an adviser in 2015. He retains many clients from the early 1990’s and has advised three and four generations of the same families.

Kay Fisher

Kay began her career in financial services in 2003 as a Relationship Manager for M&G Investments. Having experienced the investment world, in 2005 she moved her career to the ‘bank assurance’ sector working as a Financial Adviser for Barclays and HSBC. Having become frustrated with the banking sector’s advice restrictions, Kay became an Independent Financial Adviser in 2012. Kay joined the Plan Money team in July 2015, being impressed with their team ethic, clarity of client proposition and forward-thinking approach to financial planning.

In addition to wealth management and retirement planning, Kay provides later life financial planning advice. This involves advising clients and their families who need to plan for care fees funding or may need to consider Equity Release.

Joanna Oxley

Financial Planner

After a successful career working in the NHS as a Specialist Speech & Language Therapist, Joanna knew she wanted to make the move into the financial services sector and completed the Level 4 Diploma for Financial Advisers in November 2018 through London Institute of Banking & Finance. Joanna joined Plan Money in April 2019 as a member of the Adviser Support Team and has since attained Independent Financial Adviser status.

Jack Wright

Mortgage & Insurance Adviser

Jack left sixth Form in 2015 after completing his A Levels. He joined Plan Money with the ambition of beginning a career in the financial services sector. Having worked for several years in the Adviser Support team, Jack is now a Financial Adviser, specialising in Mortgage and Protection Insurance planning.

Robyn Wiggins

Trainee Financial Planner

Robyn graduated from the University of London Institute in Paris in 2017 with a degree in French studies. She joined Plan Money in October 2017 as a member of the Client Services Team, and has since progressed to training as a Financial Planner.

Chris Shelton

Client Services Manager

After a long career in retail services, Chris joined the Plan Money team to provide adviser support and office management. He has an established track record of upholding strong values and high levels of customer service. His experience means he understands the importance of fostering strong relationships, which is a key element of Plan Money’s proposition.

Jackie Cannon

Client Services Team

During 30 years in retail banking, progressing from Cashier, Personal Banker, Customer Service Manager to Area Manager, Jackie built a solid reputation for maintaining high standards and excellent customer service. She brings this wealth of experience to Plan Money’s Client Services Team, working alongside Advisers to maintain high service levels for Plan Money’s clients.

Mark Raither

ParaPlanner

Mark graduated from Buckingham University in 1993 with a degree in Law and Politics and went on to attain a Diploma in Legal Practice from the College of Law, Guildford in 1995. His financial services career began in 1996 with Prudential as a Financial Consultant and he has held similar positions with Britannic Assurance and Royal London. He also spent six years as a Mortgage Consultant.

Mark is Plan Money’s ParaPlanner, providing a vital support role for the team of advisers. Mark also provides Office Manager services for our satellite branch in Clacton which is headed by Chartered Financial Planner, Paul Twyford. Mark has worked with Paul since and they both became part of the Plan Money team in 2015.

Mark holds the full Diploma in Financial Services.

Karen Wright

Finance and Operations Manager

Karen began her career in accountancy practice at Norwich College where she gained her Association of Accounting Technicians qualification, and then began working for a firm of Accountants in Colchester in 1991.

She has been Plan Money’s bookkeeper since the company’s origins in 2003 and now undertakes the broader role of Finance and Operations Manager.
